After 30 years at the same company, Janice found herself the victim of downsizing. When she started to look for a job, she realized that her skills were out-of-date. A lot had changed in three decades. With career counseling and computer training from MND, Janice found a job that she absolutely loved. "If it wasn't for MND, I would still be out of a job," says Janice. "There were a lot of times I wanted to give up, but MND gave me the confidence to keep going." MND Alumni 2005

Carmanita came to MND after losing her job. She was in desperate need of employment as she was about to be evicted from her home. Carmanita worked closely with a MND counselor and job coach to identify her strengths and transferable skills and update her resume and prepare for interviews. Today, with MND's help, Carmanita transferred her rich volunteer experience and obtained her dream job as a full time position as a volunteer coordinator. MND Alumni 2007

Nina came to Maryland New Directions six months after getting off drugs. She enrolled in the basic computer class, graduated to the intermediate one and also attended a number of workshops including personal career assessment, resume writing and interview skills training. Ten weeks after coming to MND, Nina found employment in a job that requires her newly acquired computer skills and good customer service. Nina is doing well in her job and is still clean.
