In addition to her Master’s courses and volunteering at MND, Alex also interns at Loyola’s Career Center. In her spare time she likes to crochet stuffed animals and play video games, like Borderlands. Alex wants to be a career counselor because she enjoys how she can use her teaching and counseling skills to help people find their dream job.
While looking up internship positions for Loyola’s career center she found MND’s Job Search Assistant listing and thought it would be the perfect opportunity for her. Alex has a passion for helping people and loves volunteering. Before MND, she volunteered at a crisis hotline and provided counseling and information or those who called the hotline.
Alex thinks that it is important that MND pushes everyone to do his or her best. She says the structured program really helps to motivate people to stay active and on top with their job search. On her average day at MND she works one-on-on with adult job seekers, guides job seekers through complicated online applications, reviews resumes, or helps build them from scratch. She enjoys volunteering at MND because she is able to gain experience working with job seeking adults, and practice her skills as an aspiring career counseling, as well as learn new skills.
