During my senior year, I wanted to give back to the community that had given so much to me. I found Maryland New Directions on Towson University’s hiring page. The more I read about the company, the more I wanted to get involved. Their mission statement stuck with me and I knew that I could learn so much from getting involved.
I am a marketing intern working towards sharing MND’s mission and getting community members involved. This internship has been a great professional experience and it is nice to finally apply what I learned in the classroom to real settings.
Working with MND is a great experience for me because I am passionate about helping others. The environment is so personal and welcoming. I am so glad that I can help spread MND’s mission that they set 40 years ago.
I feel that MND is a perfect fit for me because I want to shape my future career around helping people succeed and find lasting employment. Eventually, I plan on getting my Master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology, which is the psychology behind the hiring process and workplace behavior.
While interning here, I have met people who are extremely dedicated to the cause. The staff is so friendly and they are truly devoted and enthusiastic in helping others. It’s a great place to volunteer. I hope that when my internship time is complete, I can contribute the qualities that MND displays into my own personal life and goals.
